Well we made it. After months of attempting to make this trip but always being distracted by other plans we finally got to visit Sheffields monthly Peddlers night market. Located in the industrial heart of Kelham Island literally 10 minutes from the city centre this market serves up a tasty treat of sublime streetfood, craft ales, cocktails and live music, taking place on the first Friday night and Saturday day/evening of every month.

Visited around 3pm on the Saturday afternoon we soon realised the timing of our visit was spot on, as we left around 530pm the queue must have been at least 50 deep to get in. Didn’t take long for me to sniff out my first food truck.

A delightfully doughy bao bun smothered with chicken katsu, pickles and sauce certainly hit the spot. Spicy and light this little snack left room to explore the other delights on offer.

Next up was Mokosh a Slavic kitchen and dumpling bar. Now must admit Im beginning to gain an obsession with dumplings, usually devouring the Asian version of this mighty little morsel but was attracted to this streetfood truck by the aromas gently passing in our direction. These delicately fried succulent dumplings were stuffed with pulled pork and served with sour cream, Slavic salsa and dill pickle. Quite a plateful for 8 quid…great value for money and so so tasty.

To be honest could have stayed here all night and devoured most of the food on offer, the choice is immense and something to suit all tastes and appetites. The Fat Hippo, Mac Daddies, Kebab Cartel, Dicks Smokehouse, Bamboo Streetfood were just a few of the vendors peddlin’ their wares on the day. Before we departed for our drinking session around Kelham Island(now that is a whole other story) decided on something sweet to finish off.

Yes you guessed it Urban Cheesecake specialises in …….cheesecakes!!! Now this one is not for the faint hearted and was happily shared between 3 of us. Went for the ‘Gold’, a slab of cheesecake covered in toffee and chocolate sauce with chunks of gold bar stuck in for good measure, words cannot describe.

What a fantastic concept, coupled together with a fantastic selection of craft and real ales this Sheffield destination is certainly taking the Streetfood vibe to another level, a must visit destination and will certainly be revisited by this hungry Northerner soon.
Si thi!!!!
